Making money on TikTok without showing your face
TikTok is the easiest platform to run faceless: text on screen, a trending sound, and a sharp hook will outperform a webcam most days. The harder question is how it pays. Here is the honest version, and where the money actually is (it is not the creator fund).
1Faceless is a strength here, not a workaround
TikTok rewards watch-time and rewatches, not faces. Text-on-screen, screen recordings, voiceovers and B-roll all loop well and are fast to batch. You are not fighting the format by staying faceless; you are leaning into the one built for it.
2The Creator Rewards fund is not the plan
TikTok does pay creators directly through its rewards program, but be realistic: the per-view rate is low, it favours longer (1 minute plus) videos, and you need to meet follower and view thresholds to qualify. It is a nice top-up once you are big, not a path from £0 to a Jaguar. Do not build your plan around it.
3Where the money actually is
- Affiliate. Recommend tools or products you genuinely use; earn a commission per sign-up or sale. Recurring ones compound. Always disclose.
- TikTok Shop / product links. If a physical or digital product fits your niche, you can sell or affiliate it directly in-app.
- Your own digital product. The best margins. Point your bio and CTAs at a guide, template pack or tool you own.
- Lead generation. If you already sell a service, faceless TikToks are a free top-of-funnel that costs only time.

4The faceless formats that pop
- Text-on-screen over satisfying or relevant B-roll, with a trending sound low in the mix.
- Screen recordings: "watch me do X" tutorials and demos.
- List and ranking videos with a strong on-screen hook in frame one.
- Voiceover story or hot take over visuals (an AI voice is fine to start).
