Postiz review (2026)
Most "reviews" of scheduling tools are written by people who opened a free trial for an afternoon. This one is not. We schedule this entire faceless brand through Postiz, every day, across eight platforms, including by API. So here is the honest version: what it is genuinely good at, where it is rough, what it costs, and how it stacks up against Buffer, Hootsuite and Later. If it is not right for you, this review will say so.
The best value scheduler for creators and small teams who post across many platforms and want automation, not a locked-down dashboard. Cheaper than the incumbents at scale, posts everywhere that matters, and uniquely has a real public API. Skip it only if you need a decade-polished enterprise UI or hands-off white-glove support.

1What Postiz actually is
Postiz is a social media scheduling and management tool. You connect your accounts, write a post once, tweak it per platform, and schedule or queue it. The headline difference from the old guard is that Postiz is open-source: you can self-host it for free if you are technical, or use the hosted cloud version and skip the server work. Most people should just use the cloud version; the self-host option mainly matters as proof the tool is not going to vanish or hold your data hostage.
2The platforms it posts to
This is where it earns its place for faceless and multi-platform creators. We post to TikTok, Instagram, Threads, X, YouTube, Facebook, Reddit and Pinterestfrom one composer, and it also handles LinkedIn, Mastodon, Bluesky and more. One idea, eight native posts, each with its own caption and settings, scheduled in a single sitting. If your whole strategy is "be everywhere without being on camera," this is the part that saves you hours every week.
3The public API (the real differentiator)
Postiz has a genuine, documented public API and an MCP server. That sounds niche until you want to automate. We drive our entire posting pipeline through it from scripts: generate a batch, upload the video, set the platform options, schedule it, all without touching the dashboard. No other mainstream scheduler at this price gives you that. If you are the kind of person who would rather write a small script than click the same buttons forty times, this alone is the reason to pick Postiz.
4AI features and team plans
The paid tiers include AI assistance for captions and images, a calendar view, and team features (multiple seats, approval flows). The team plan is genuinely generous on volume compared to what the incumbents charge for the same number of channels and posts. For a solo operator running several brands, or a small agency, the per-channel maths works out clearly in Postiz's favour.
5Where it is rough (the honest part)
- It is newer than the incumbents. The UI is good but not decade-polished, and you will occasionally hit an edge in a platform integration that a giant like Hootsuite has already sanded down.
- Platform rules still apply. No scheduler can save a brand-new account from a platform's own trust filters, and some networks (TikTok especially) treat API posts differently from in-app ones. That is the platform, not Postiz, but it is worth knowing.
- Self-hosting is a real project. If you go that route to save money, budget the time. For most people the hosted plan is the right call.
6Postiz vs Buffer vs Hootsuite vs Later
| Postiz | Buffer | Hootsuite | Later | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Open-source / self-host | Yes | No | No | No |
| Public API for automation | Yes | Limited | Limited | Limited |
| Price at scale | Lowest | Mid | Highest | Mid |
| Platforms covered | Very wide | Wide | Wide | IG-focused |
| Built-in AI | Yes | Some | Some | Some |
| Best for | Creators + automators | Simplicity | Enterprise |
Buffer is the friendliest if you only post to two or three places and want zero learning curve. Hootsuite is built for big teams with big budgets. Later is excellent if you live on Instagram. Postiz wins on breadth of platforms, price at scale, and automation, which is exactly the profile of a faceless creator running multiple channels.
7Pricing
There is a free tier to try it, and the paid plans scale by channels and team size rather than nickel-and-diming every feature. Self-hosting is free if you bring your own server. Check the current numbers on their site (SaaS pricing moves), but the structural point holds: for the number of platforms and the API access you get, it is the cheapest serious option we tested.
+Who should buy it, who should not
Buy it if you post across many platforms, you want to automate or batch, you run more than one brand, or you are an agency watching per-seat costs. Skip it if you only post to one network, you need enterprise procurement and a dedicated account manager, or you will not use the breadth you are paying for.
For us, running a faceless multi-platform brand on a budget, it has been the right tool, which is the only reason it is the one we recommend.
